Shrubs are usually perennials -- deciduous or evergreen -- defined by their multiple woody stems rising from the base of the plant. Shrubs differ from trees mainly by the lack of a single trunk. They can range in height from 18 inches to 18 feet.
Our selection includes:
Arboriculture is defined as the planting, care and study of perennial woody plants, namely, trees, shrubs and vines.
We offer hundreds of different types to match every taste and purpose. Come in and see our selection.
Trees are perennials -- deciduous or evergreen -- defined by their woody trunks and their explicit, well-defined crowns. According to the species, mature trees can range in height from 5 to over 365 feet! Certain individual specimens represent not only the highest living things on earth, but also the largest and the oldest. They are a major companion plant for human culture, providing beauty, inspiration, oxygen, building materials, food and much, much more.
Single trees often become centerpieces for our homes, and if well placed, can easily increase the property value. This can be especially true in a sun prone area such as the Great Basin Desert where shade trees can create the feeling of an oasis.
We offer many different types of trees that are hardy for our region. Come in, let us introduce you to our trees:
Big Sage is one of the primary plants for the Great Basin Desert ecosystem and a beautiful, easy to grow, carefree shrub for xeric landscaping. Once established, you will rarely need to water Big Sage, but you might want to do some yearly, seasonal trimming of the plant's flower stems.
The flowers themselves are not very noticeable, but they do send up tall stems that dry as the flowers fade. In the wild the look isn't that noticeable, but in the yard, the plant takes on a subtle, gangly appearance that can be easily fixed by trimming. In the autumn, after the flowers have dried, a quick snip of the stems that reach up over the foliage will make your Big Sage look trim, more fluffy and happy.
